I found SILQ Hotel and Residence Bangkok Sukhumvit 24 while looking for accommodation along the Sukhumvit line that was close to the BTS. I specifically wanted to stay near Phrom Phong Station and Bangkok’s big shopping malls like EmQuartier and Emsphere. From previous visits, I knew there was a street in this area lined with big-name hotels such as the SKYVIEW Hotel, Hilton, and Hyatt Place Bangkok Sukhumvit 24 (all similar in style.) SILQ Hotel and Residence sits on this very street. Despite the price, first impressions were a little underwhelming. The lobby is simple and the check-in desks on the right-hand side feel fairly plain. The staff were friendly,…

Bangkok Louis Vuitton Visionary Journeys: booking tickets & review

If you find yourself in Bangkok before April 30, 2025, there’s an experience you really shouldn’t miss: the Louis Vuitton Visionary Journeys Exhibition. Nestled in the heart of the city, a mere skip from the Chit Lom BTS on the central Sukhumvit line, this interactive exhibition is a colourful journey through 150 years of Louis Vuitton’s creativity. Not a designer fan? Quite honestly, I don’t think…

Review of Ao Nang’s hidden hotel gem: Panan Krabi Resort
I’ve mentioned in previous posts that I lived in Ao Nang for two years (and have been going back every year since). So, I’ve had plenty of time to explore its accommodation scene and watch it expand in favour of its tourists. I’ve stayed in all sorts of places here, from top-rated hotels, to rented private bungalows and local guesthouses. Having opened its doors in 2018, Panan Krabi Resort had little time to promote itself before the pandemic brought a screeching hault to Thai tourism. Nestled down a lane of lush greenery, just a few minutes walk from the beaches of Aonang, Panan Krabi Resort promises to provide an appealing…

Unique and cool things to see and do in and around Krabi Town
Krabi, Thailand is a tropical paradise that is often overlooked by tourists in favour of more popular destinations like Phuket and Bangkok. But this particular province holds a special place in my heart – so much so that I chose to make it my home for over 2 years. Krabi is not somewhere you fall in love with immediately. At first glance, it looks like your standard gateway stop point – offering connections to a lot of the paradise islands seen across movies and social media accounts (are we too far along to be referencing ‘The Beach’ nowadays?) However, scratch the surface and you’ll find some of the most exciting…

Khaothong Hill Restaurant – Aonang’s best hidden gem
Khaothong Hill Restaurant, located in the popular tourist destination of Ao Nang in Krabi, Thailand, is a hidden gem that offers staggering sunset views of the surrounding islands and the Andaman Sea. This hill (and its accompanying cafe) are a must-visit for anyone looking for a unique and scenic experience that’s slightly off the beaten path. Whilst the viewpoint is still (in my mind) a lesser-known haunt of beautiful Krabi, its popularity is quickly growing as TikTok travellers post about its purple sky scenes and space to sit down for a fantasy day of remote working. You’ll get a quick preview of the spectacular sunset we got during our visit…

Best places to stay in Bangkok | By Bangkok Travel Point

It brings together history and modernity, reflects the past and, at the same time, takes visitors on a trip to the future. This sprawling metropolis is full of intriguing contrasts and forever changing. Bangkok reaches to the stars, with apartment towers on the Chao Phraya River growing higher and the shopping malls getting larger and more sophisticated. The city is the ultimate trend setter. In a short time, Thailand’s capital has flourished into South-East Asia’s design and fashion stronghold. There are five districts in Bangkok that tend to appeal to visitors.…

Yamyen: The novelty hospital restaurant in AoNang Thailand
PLEASE NOTE, UPDATED JAN 2023. Yamyen Aonang is now permanently closed, however, the restaurant has been refurbished and is now a standard Thai restaurant serving traditional foods. Krabi province is giving Bangkok’s unique themed cafes a run for their money with the arrival of a new hospital-themed restaurant in Ao Nang, Thailand. With the capital’s unicorn and mermaid restaurants becoming a more regular tourist attraction, Thailand café hoppers are now looking for their next novelty foodie fix. Yamyen Resto Park Ao Nang shuns the town’s usual beach restaurant format, swapping it for a medical-centre-style set-up – complete with bedpans, syringes and laboratory flasks. An unusual restaurant in AoNang ……

Thailand Backpacking Route
Choosing a Thailand backpacking route can be difficult, especially given the wide range of tourist attractions on offer. The country relies heavily on tourism and, as a result, offers travellers hundreds of budget activity choices including museums, palaces, Buddhist temples, beaches, World Heritage sites and cooking classes. If you’re going to Thailand, I recommend you take AT LEAST 2 weeks to do so. With this kind of time frame, you’d be able to catch a good little preview of what the country has to offer. For me, your Thailand route comes down to one main question: North or South Thailand? North Thailand The less obvious of the two. Most new travellers know less about…
